Lab Grown Diamonds Guide
Why Opt for Lab Grown Diamonds
Mining Free
Lab diamonds are an ethical option because they are created using advanced technology that eliminates the need for mining.
Value
Lab-grown diamonds provide exceptional value, allowing you to get the most out of your budget.
Beauty & Quality
Lab-grown diamonds possess identical physical, chemical, and optical characteristics to those of mined diamonds.
What Are Lab-Grown Diamonds?
Lab-grown diamonds, also referred to as man-made, lab-created, or engineered diamonds, are produced in precisely controlled lab settings that replicate the natural conditions in the Earth's mantle where diamonds form. These synthetic diamonds consist of genuine carbon atoms arranged in the characteristic diamond crystal structure. As a result, they possess the same optical and chemical properties as natural diamonds, being composed of the identical material.
Lab Grown Diamonds vs. Natural Diamonds
Without specialized tools, distinguishing between a lab-grown diamond and a natural one is nearly impossible, as they appear identical. The only noticeable difference lies in their origin: one was formed deep within the Earth, while the other was created in a laboratory.
Our lab-grown diamonds possess identical physical, chemical, and optical characteristics as natural diamonds, displaying the same brilliance, fire, and scintillation. While lab-created diamonds may contain trace elements that differ from those in natural diamonds, these do not impact their appearance. Identifying lab-created diamonds from natural ones requires specialized equipment.
Comparing Lab-Grown Diamonds, Moissanites, and Cubic Zirconia
Understanding the difference between lab-created diamonds and diamond simulants is essential. Lab-grown diamonds are composed of carbon, just like natural diamonds. In contrast, diamond simulants may look like diamonds but are not made from true carbon crystals.
Moissanite and cubic zirconia are two of the most commonly used diamond simulants.
Moissanite: Although natural moissanite exists, it is extremely rare. This is because it originates not from Earth, but from meteorites that come from space. Thus, the moissanite you can buy is also lab-created. Though they can resemble diamonds, they typically have a rainbow gleam rather than the dazzling glitter of a regular diamond.
So, while cubic zirconia and moissanite may appear to be diamonds, they are not.
Simulants do not possess the same chemical and physical attributes as genuine diamonds, which is why they are priced significantly lower than lab-grown diamonds. Unlike genuine or lab-created diamonds, simulants can often be distinguished by the naked eye.

Many of our engagement ring settings have lab grown diamond trimmings when set with a lab grown center diamond, enhancing our mining-free choices. For most styles, we match the type of accent gems to the type of center diamond. If you choose a lab-grown center diamond, the accent diamonds in your setting might also be lab-grown, as outlined in the product description.
Lab Diamonds By Color
Our lab-created diamonds come in a variety of colorless options. We also sell lab diamonds in exotic colors that are regarded extremely rare in nature, such as vibrant yellows, blues, and pinks. Man-made fancy colored diamonds emerge when minute amounts of appropriate trace elements are present during the diamond's growth phase, exactly as they do in nature. Fancy colored lab produced diamonds are more cheap than their natural colored cousins.

The Capture Collection
A new era has arrived, and it's time to reconsider all you know about diamonds. The Capture Collection features lab diamonds manufactured using carbon capture technology.
Carbon capture diamonds are produced by capturing carbon dioxide and utilizing it to form diamond crystals. The diamonds are then grown, cut, and polished using sustainable energy in the same location to reduce transportation emissions and pollution.
The Renewable Collection
Since 2022, we've relied on renewable energy for all our cutting and polishing processes. We're now employing it in the growing process as well: every diamond in our collection is grown, cut, and polished using 100% renewable energy sourced from wind and solar farms. The producers of these lab-grown diamonds, like all our suppliers, undergo audits to ensure compliance with our Supplier Code of Conduct, which mandates safe and healthy working conditions for all employees.
FAQs
How much do lab grown diamonds cost?
The cost of lab-grown diamonds varies based on their size and quality. Typically, lab-grown diamonds are priced lower than natural diamonds of similar quality.
What methods can be used to determine if a diamond is lab-grown?
It is impossible to differentiate between lab-grown and natural diamonds with the naked eye. However, gemologists employ several techniques to identify lab-created diamonds. These diamonds often have distinct characteristics or "fingerprints" that set them apart from natural ones. A common method involves using specialized equipment like spectroscopy to analyze fluorescence patterns. Additionally, some lab-grown diamonds may exhibit microscopic inclusions or growth patterns not present in natural diamonds, providing further clues about their origin.
How do you clean lab created diamonds?
Cleaning lab-grown diamonds follows the same procedure as for natural diamonds. To eliminate dirt and grime, use a soft brush with warm, soapy water.
Steer clear of harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, as they can damage the diamond or its setting. Regular cleaning maintains the diamond's sparkle and shine.
How long do lab grown diamonds last?
Lab-grown diamonds, like genuine diamonds, are incredibly durable and can endure indefinitely with proper maintenance. They are made up of carbon atoms organized in a crystal lattice, which makes them resistant to wear and abrasion. Lab-grown diamonds will retain their brightness and beauty for centuries if properly maintained and cared for.
